I’m NOAH.
“Dear god, I hope this time I
have someone to love me, and make me feel happy everyday.” Noah closed his eyes and whispered.
He ran to the door of the
orphanage, waiting for his new family.
“Third time huh?” the creepy
lady at the door asked, he nodded back with excitement.
Noah looked down at his right
leg, which had been replaced with prosthetics,
His eyes became blind and all
that crossed his mind was the remembrance of the day he lost his parents in a
big accident, he lost his leg that day too, and he was just 4 years old.
“I hope you don’t come in the
way this time!” he mumbled to his leg.
Noah had been adopted twice
before, but was sent bad because they said it was ‘too hard to maintain a boy
in prosthetics!
This time Noah was more eager
to see his new family as he heard he’s going to have two siblings!
A NEW FAMILY
“Noah they’re here!!”
screamed the lady.
He picked his bag up and
walked outside, he saw a big fancy car waiting for him, and ‘it looks just like
the car that Charlie went in when Santa called’
It reminded him of a
Christmas movie.
A tall woman stepped out of
the car, “you must be Noah. I’m Amy!”
She bent down and said. Noah
was shy and kept quiet, “John get out of the car it’s the kid!”
John came out of the car
grumpy ‘he’s tall too but a little bit fat’ Noah thought to himself. John gave
Noah a weird look and pulled Amy aside, he heard them whisper, “We didn’t know
this boy doesn’t have a leg”
“Its okay we’ll see how this
turns out.” Amy replied,
Noah was confused he thought
they knew and loved him for that!
He just smiled and all of
them got into the car, he took a deep breath preparing himself.
A NEW LIFE?
Everything was going to be
new for Noah. But he wasn’t afraid.
There was silence in the car
ride home, Noah was just wondering about how his siblings would be.
He reached the house, he
looked up, “wow!” he said, it was a very big house, “how is it here?” Amy
asked, “it’s beautiful but where is my brother and sister?” Noah said looking
around,
“Jackson, Emma your brother
is here!” screamed Amy.
Both of them peeked and
stomped down the stairs, “hi.” Noah waved, neither Jackson nor Emma smiled; it
was as if they’ve been punished. “You guys get to know each other, I’ll get
snacks.” Amy walked away. “So what’s your name?” Emma asked, “Noah!” he
replied, Emma looked at Jackson and giggled, but Jackson seemed to feel bad, he
looked at Noah’s leg and gave him a warm smile, they said nothing more and went
back up to their rooms.
Amy sat down with Noah, “how
is it so far?”
“I don’t think anyone likes
me here” he frowned,
“Oh, of course they like
you!” she patted him on the back and took him to the dinner table.
BACK TO THE START
Everyone was at the table;
dinner was mac ‘n’ cheese and chicken nuggets, Noah’s favorite.
“How is it lie living in an
orphanage?” Emma asked
“Well it wasn’t very pleasant
over there, you’re not always accepted.”
“Why were you sent back by
other families?” Emma laughed and said, “maybe they didn’t want a son in
prosthetics.” Noah lowered his voice.
He realized that his new
family might hate him to for the same reason.
Noah looked up a little and
saw John and Emma laughing, he had nothing to say.
He finished dinner quickly so
he could get to bed, “Noah, tomorrow we’re going to the park so don’t sleep
in!” Amy told him.
He nodded his head and
settled in his new bedroom.
“Goodnight Noah, if you need
anything come to me, it’s the room next to yours.” Jackson whispered peeping
into his room.
Noah smiled and replied with
“goodnight!”
“AM I THE PROBLEM?”
Noah left the bedroom door open,
as he was scared of being alone in the dark.
He lay down on his bed, and
covered himself up in a blanket. “Long day Ted.” He whispered to his teddy bear,
just like he did everyday before bed, “what if I never find a family that will
love me, though Jackson seems nice, I don’t know, but thank you for always
being there for me Ted!”
Noah slowly closed his eyes
and dozed off, he was sleepy after a tiring day.
The next morning, Noah and
the family, drove to the park. It was filled with trees with spots of open
land, they all placed down the bright red and white picnic cloth, set up the
snacks and lunch and sat down to eat. “Jackson and Emma, if you’re going to
play take Noah too!”
Emma rolled her eyes and
called Noah with them, “let’s scare him!” she murmured to Jackson, “no, that’s
not nice!” he quickly responded, but she didn’t listen.
“So, Noah let’s play hide and
seek?”
“Okay!” Noah replied. “Count
till 100!”
“Okay but, I don’t know this
pla…” Before Noah could finish they ran.
Noah didn’t bother counting,
he searched everywhere, and there was no sign of Jackson or Emma. He walked and
walked, and ended up getting lost, tears burst into his eyes he didn’t know
where he was!
Noah sat on a bench nearby
and called for help, no one responded, “excuse me?” a voice said behind him,
Noah shrieked.
It was a security guard, “can
I help you?”
“Yes, I came for a picnic
with my fami- well not really my family, and I got lost!” “It’s okay, I’ll help you.” The officer took
Noah to his shelter area and alerted other officers, he waited for an hour or
two looking at the views, finally they got a signal, and “we found your family,
and let’s go.” He took Noah and dropped him off at the picnic spot…
FINALLY.
Noah wasn’t very happy seeing
his family again.
Amy ran to hug him, “we were
so worried!”
Noah looked at John and his
two siblings, “if you guys didn’t like me you could’ve told me, I would
understand, just cause I don’t have a leg it doesn’t make me any different!”
He couldn’t hold it any
longer.
“I wouldn’t be here either,
if I new I would have such a rude family, drop me back!” Noah exclaimed.
“What mischief were you up to
now?” Amy asked Emma.
None of them realized how
much their actions hurt Noah; they thought he took it for fun.
Jackson walked up to Noah; he
lifted his sleeve up, and showed the prosthetics that connected his shoulders
to his hands. “You’re not alone”. Jackson whispered to Noah and hugged him. “ I’m
sorry” Emma said. Regretting what she had done, the family surrounded Noah. “We
don’t hate you Noah, we still dint know much about you. We didn’t know the
impact that it would have on you”. John explained. “ I’m sorry too, family?”
Noah said. “Family”, everyone repeated. They spent the evening together.
Noah forgot about the
incident, he didn’t mind having prosthetics anymore, he was just grateful for a
happy family.
